Career and Education

Greg Phelps  has had a varied career.  His wife of over 40 years accuses him of having "Professional ADD".   He has been a small town country doctor, a faculty member, teaching family practice, addiction medicine, occupational medicine and end of life care.  He has been a medical director for employee health clinics, substance abuse clinics, hyperbaric oxygen provider and worked in a hospital based pain clinic.  He has also served as Chief Medical Officer for a hospital system in two states.  If there was an official income generating position called "Professional Student" Greg would likely be one.  In addition to college and medical school and residency in Family Medicine, Greg has also completed a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in Theology as it applies to health care.  He also returned to school for a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine which is the subject of his first book Education of a Hospice Doctor.  He just finished a four of a certification in Ministry program offered by Sewanee School of Theology.

Greg is, or has been certified in Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine with subspecialty of Occupational Medicine,  Addiction Medicine, drug testing, Medical Management along with Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He was medical director for UT Hospice in Knoxville Tennessee for six years prior to becoming Chief Medical Officer for Alleo Health/Hospice of Chattanooga over five  years ago.

Greg and Gayle have three adult children and four grandchildren ages 12-4
