My publisher
-Parson’s Porch Publishing
I first met the Reverend David Tullock PhD when he was the guest speaker for dinner sponsored by the Chattanooga Association of Clinical Pastoral Care where I was a board member. While I enjoyed his talk I particularly perked up when he mentioned being a publisher. I sought him out later for a quick conversation and we agreed to talk again. We both got busy and a year or so went by.
Then we talked again, and he told me his story as a Baptist pastor who took a little too liberal interpretation to the New Testament in his conservative small Tennessee town. Part of his theological drift was related to his efforts to support the poor (of which there are many in his town) by forming a company that ostensibly published small tracts and raised money via donations that he then turned around and donated to the poor. When he was ‘encouraged’ to leave that church’s ministry over his calls to do more for the poor, he reflected on the similarities of getting the good news (gospel)out. He said “Ironically, the word for preach and publish is the same Hebrew word - בָּשַׂר (basar) and the same Greek word - διαγγέλλω (diaggello).
So now he took this charitable sideline to expand his outreach by turning “Books into Bread” by selling books to raise money for the poor. So, when you buy my book you are supporting the poor. Interestingly MY share of the proceeds is donated to our Alleo Hospice Foundation so you’re supporting TWO charitable programs. Plus, you get a great book!
